In what is a much needed inclusion to the squad, regular test captain Temba Bavuma has made himself available for the upcoming tests against India that starts on the 14th of November. Bavuma, who last featured for South Africa in the WTC final in June has seemed to recover from his injury completely as the proteas face their toughest challenge away from home.
The batting order has been bolstered by the return of Bavuma and now consists of Aiden Markram, Tony de Zorzi, Dewald Brevis, Zubayr Hamza and Ryan Rickelton with Kyle Verreynne the designated wicketkeeper. Kagiso Rabada with Corbin Bosch, Wiaan Mulder and Marco Jansen form a robust bowling line up as South Africa would love to do what New Zealand did to India last winter.
"We've kept the bulk of the squad that competed in the two-match series against Pakistan. Those players showed real character and fought hard to come from behind and draw that series. "We are anticipating a similar challenge in India, and many of the players who stood up in those conditions will once again be key for us” South Africa coach Shukri Conrad was quoted saying.
The first of the two tests kicks off in Kolkata on 14 November, followed by the second test in Guwahati from 22nd November. The test series will be followed by 3 Odis and 5 T20s as India look to finish the year on a high before the all important T20 world cup in February as they are the joint hosts along side Sri Lanka.
