After an anti climatic wash out in the T20 series, both England and New Zealand would like a more competitive ODI series as the first of the three games kicks off on Sunday. The picturesque locations add to the beauty of the sport as the hosts would like to pocket this series as a revenge of the T20 series that was marred by weather more than bat and ball.
England would bank on familiar firepower and tons of experience. Jacob Bethel, Jamie Smith, Ben Duckett, Joe Root and Jos Butler are up and raring to go and in Rashid, Tom Banton, Joffra Archer and the riveting new looking Luke Wood, they would like to clip the wings of a high flying kiwi batting line up.
The hosts look like a well oiled machine too for the series as Mitchell Santner is back to leading the side. The experience of Ravindra and Conway at the top followed by a robust middle, that welcomes Kane Williamson order are enough to give the English a run for their money. The hosts will miss the services of Kyle Jamieson as he ruled out with a quadricep injury, but the likes of Zakary Foukes, Jacob Duffy and Matt Henry more than make up for his absence.
The series, like what one of the T20s promised, is going to be a high scoring one as the World Cup finalists of 2019 look to outweigh each other in all departments. The first of the three games kick off at Mount Manganui followed by Hamilton and the series culminates at the Basin Reserve in Wellington on the 1st of November.
