Another series won, another perfect home record maintained. The stage is set as India pocketed yet another home series in T20's as they begin their title defence at home this week. One of the key things that has gone India's way in this series is that Surya Kumar Yadav has got runs. He was never out of form, but out of runs as he mentioned, but both form and runs have come back with a bang this series. He along with Ishan Kishan and Abhishek Sharma scored tons of runs to bat the Kiwis out of the contest in all the five games.
Hardik Pandya, Shivam Dube, Axar Patel and Rinku Singh also played their part as India have been a force to reckon with since the last T20 world cup. The only blip was the dipping form of Sanju Samson who has been underwhelming since his selection. His spot in the 11 might be in the limbo as Ishan Kishan has outscored him, and all but secured his place in the starting 11.
The bowling too was competent as Bumrah, Arshdeep, Harshit Rana and the spinners were accurate enough, even if they did conceede 200 plus totals a couple of times, they were mostly on point with Arshdeep picking up a fifer in the last game.
For the hosts, it was a massive disaster after the ODI series win. They ran into 11 raging bulls and were dragged by the horns in 4 out of the 5 games. Finn Allen was the only positive in the last game otherwise their batting and bowling was a massive disappointment. WIth the world cup just a few days away, the Kiwis are still looking for their best combination, but trust them to peak at the right time.
The hosts have everything sorted as well as a historic "TREBBLE" beckons. No team has defended their crwon, no team has won a T20 world cup at home, no team has ever won the world cup 3 times. The expectation are SKY HIGH and after the disappointments that were 2016 and 2023, it should be third time lucky for the men in blue.
