When Virat Kohli ramped Nathan Ellis for the winning runs in the third ODI on Sunday, fans were left more emotional than happy as this was probably the last time they saw two of the modern batting giants of ODI cricket pulverise the Aussie bowling.
It's been a thrilling ride for both Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli as they have been part of some unforgettable games down under. From his debut in the 2015 world cup to the 2025 ton, Australia has been Rohit’s favourite destination as he has scored tons of runs and given fans memories of a lifetime.
Coming into this series too, the pressure was on him to perform, as the circumstances were completely different. His 137 against Bangladesh in the world cup or his magical 171 in Perth in 2016, hitman’s heroics will always be a part of folklore.
Like Rohit, Kohli too has been involved in some riveting moments down under. The middle finger incident, getting the captaincy in 2014, winning the series in 2018 and then the horrors of Adelaide in 2020, life has come full circle for the King and it was apt that he hit the winning runs on Sunday.
As Rohit’s Instagram post read singing off from Sydney on the wee hours of Monday, as fans, we can only be thankful to RO-KO for the entertainment they have provided us with over these years as the home fans get ready to witness them over the coming months as the duo prepares for the 2027 world cup in the rainbow nation.
