Sangakkara returns as head coach of Rajasthan Royals for IPL 2026.

The off field “celebrations ” for Rajasthan Royals continue as now legendary left hand batsman Kumar Sangakkara has now rejoined the team as head coach. He was the head coach from 2021- 24 before Rahul Dravid took over this season. Sangakkara returns to a new look Rajasthan team and hopefully will take them to title glory in IPL 2026.

“As we looked at what the team needed at this stage, we felt that his familiarity within the squad, his leadership and his deep understanding of the Royals culture would bring the right balance of continuity and stability.” Manoj Badale, RR owner was quoted saying.

Sangakkara will now be assisted by Vikram Rathore, who has been appointed head coach while Shane Bond will continue as bowling coach of the inaugural champions, who already have a strong squad ahead of the mini auction as they welcome Ravindra Jadeja and Sam Curran in a headline turning trade deal.
