A month after winning the Asia cup in a thrilling final against arch rivals Pakistan, the wait for the official trophy continues as India are yet to receive it from the office of the PCB as Mohsin Naqvi, the chairman of the ACC has refused to hand it over. The drama over the trophy intensifies and it’s confirmed that both boards will have a meeting to find a solution.
"Yes, we have written to the ACC asking them that the trophy be handed over to India," BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia told Cricbuzz on Wednesday (October 22). "We have also informed the ACC that if it fails to comply, we will raise the matter at the International Cricket Council (ICC) meeting," he added. The ICC meeting, as is well known, is scheduled in Dubai from November 4 to 7.
The Indian team and Naqvi, both are firm on their stand. While the players did not accept their winners medal from him as a tribute to the victims of the Pahalgam attack, Naqvi was quoted saying “ Bring one of your players here and take the trophy”. All eyes now, are on that meeting and as a fan, one would hope that the Asia cup comes back to India.
